Conventional ADHD treatment options

There are a few ways to help manage some of the symptoms of ADHD. This can include:

  • Medication, such as stimulants or non-stimulants

  • Behavioural therapies and coping strategies

  • Educational and workplace support

Although some people may find relief with a combination of the above, for others it simply isn’t enough.

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, more commonly known as ADHD, is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects how someone thinks and behaves. Broadly, it plays out in one of three ways:

  • Hyperactive and impulsive: loud, restless, can be disruptive

  • Inattentive: easily distracted, often bored, disorganised

  • A mix of the two

When traditional treatments have not provided effective relief from symptoms or have caused unwanted side effects, an alternative treatment may be considered.

Your safety is our priority

As a Care Quality Commission (CQC) regulated clinic, we are subject to independent oversight and regulation and operate in accordance with strict clinical governance protocols to ensure every patient receives responsible care.

We consider alternative treatments only when conventional ADHD medications or therapies have not provided sufficient relief or have caused unwanted side effects.

Consultations do not guarantee a prescription. Our clinicians only prescribe when there is a clear unmet clinical need and it is deemed safe for the patient.

Every prescription is validated by a specialist doctor and reviewed by a secondary clinical board to ensure suitability.

We will notify your NHS GP of your treatment plan to ensure your medical records are kept up to date. To ensure we care for you in the safest way possible we may ask to reach out to other people involved in your care.
