One of the reasons people are hesitant to use a medical cannabis vaporiser is because they’re unfamiliar with how they work.
But in addition to it being healthier, more beneficial and cost-effective to vape than smoke your medical cannabis, vaping is also super straightforward.
Read on for instructions on how to use and get the best out of your Mighty Medic and Volcano Medic.
1. Getting Started
Your Mighty Medic should arrive with an 80% charge, so it’s ready to go right out of the box. (A full charge provides enough battery life for around 10 sessions.)
Before you begin using your Mighty Medic, you should perform a quick burn-off to disinfect the chamber that you’ll be using to heat your cannabis. Simply turn the Mighty on with the orange button, turn the temperature up to 210C (the maximum) and leave it to heat and automatically turn off.
2. Prepare Your Medical Cannabis

The Mighty Medic also comes with a plastic herb loader. Fill the loader and twist it into the chamber to ensure your dose is the right size and well-packed. If you don’t have the loader to hand, the most important thing to remember is that the chamber should be packed gently so that there’s plenty of space for the hot air to circulate.
3. Choose Your Settings
The Mighty Medic is simple to use. Turn it on with the orange button and use the up and down buttons to set the desired temperature. A good place to start is 160C.
Different cannabinoids and terpenes have different boiling points, but some important ones to consider are:
- THC: 157C
- CBD: 160–180C
- CBN: 185C
- Terpenes: 106-212C
The number at the top is the temperature in the oven. Once it reaches your desired temperature, you can begin vaping. The Mighty Medic will vibrate to let you know it’s ready.
While you can take your first draw immediately, many people prefer to leave it for a few minutes to ensure the maximum amount of terpenes and cannabinoids have been released.
4. Inhale Your Medication
When the desired temperature has been reached, you’re ready to inhale. Place the nozzle in your mouth and take a deep breath. Hold the vapour in your lungs for three seconds and then release.
When you vape it only takes 30-60 seconds for the cannabinoids and terpenes to make it into your bloodstream, but the effects will increase for a few minutes after inhalation.
Always wait at least 15 minutes to see how you feel before taking another dose. Keep dosing at 15 minute intervals until you feel relief from your symptoms.
When all of the available cannabinoids have been vaporised, you’ll notice that there won’t be any vapour left when you inhale. Open the chamber and remove the spent cannabis, which should be a light tan colour.
5. Cleaning Your Mighty Medic
It’s important to keep your Mighty Medic clean and many people recommend cleaning it after every session. Dirty devices don’t vaporise well and can lead to uneven dosage.
To clean your device, first make sure it’s turned off and has cooled down. Remove the mouthpiece and give it a quick wash in water and then brush out any leftover flower from the chamber.
It’s recommended that regular users do a deeper clean of their vape at least once a week. To do this, remove the cooling chamber, take it apart and (with the exception of the hologram seal) clean each component thoroughly with 70% isopropyl alcohol.
Vape cleaning kits are also widely available.
How To Use Your Volcano Medic
The Volcano Medic works in a similar way to the Mighty Medic, so you can go through the same processes to clean and prepare it for use. However, rather than inhaling your vapour directly from the device, you attach a balloon to the chamber and fill that instead.
Once the balloon is full (or you’re satisfied with the amount), you remove it and insert the mouthpiece into the valve. Place your lips on the mouthpiece and inhale gently. The valve will open and release the vapour.
By using the balloon the vapour is cooled to room temperature before you inhale, which makes it easier on your lungs.
Tips For Using Your Volcano Medic
- Keep your balloon upright while filling. This will help the balloon last longer and reduce condensation.
- Clean the chamber regularly and brush off the screens to maximise effectiveness and longevity.
- Just because you can’t see the vapour in the balloon, doesn’t mean it’s not there. Start low, go slow and always give yourself 15 minutes between inhalations.
